Working with many different media, Jessie Bonilla’s work aims to focus on the darker aspects of the human condition, including loss, personal afflictions, and social expectations. Her works are many times sculptural and/or installations and usually incorporate the use of hard edges and geometric shapes, many times juxtaposed with organic, soft, or delicate forms. Materials used in her body of work include acrylic plastics, fabrics, found objects, and paint. She earned her BFA with an emphasis in Transmedia from the University of Colorado Denver in 2015. She lives and works in Denver, Colorado.
